I remember when I used to be able to call indie music my own. Now i feel like indie bands have just sold themselves out. Do you feel that way?

My god, yes. I miss the underground music scene in general.

Once upon a time, there was a sense of community: you knew the kids who came to the shows and the bands that played the circuit. You had to put effort into finding music and paid little or nothing to go to the shows. Thanks to the internet (namely peer to peer file sharing programs and networking sites), music is fully accessible to anyone at any time, which is both a blessing (the bands are heard so much easier, and the kids don't have to find the address of the drummer to send a dollar to for a 7 inch and some stickers) and a curse (the bands have an immense amount of competition, they may never make any money for their efforts, and the sense of community has been destroyed for those kids who held it so dear to them).

Honestly, I miss the old days of basement shows and five dollar covers.
