Make couples go to marriage counseling before marriage. Also have them to seek financial counseling so they can start out on the right foot. This will teach people how to budget there income. Another thing that would make divorce rate drop is hold each accountable for their actions.Make divorce less appealing so people won't be eager to run to a lawyer when things get tough.

In an ideal world the answer would be yes you can. In the real world the answer is no.
To the person who suggested that cultures where arranged marriages were practiced have lower divorce rates, can I just add that it isn't that simple. In many of these communities poverty is still a big issue. Women don't have as many options - do you stay in an unhappy marriage but be accepted by society or do you get divorced and be ostracised by your own community?
So if you want to decrease divorce rates then try limiting options. Or if you want to create a more happy world then try teaching people to be kind and compassionate towards others, respect eachother and themselves and know their own mind.

By going back to traditional male/female relationships or by creating new traditions and family laws where men and women will depend on each other for good life and happiness.
People divorce frequently and often without a good reason mainly because they don't really need each other.
And one of the reasons why they don't need each other is because the government usually forces the higher income spouse to keep supporting his poorer ex-spouse for some time after the divorce in order to make their divorce less difficult.
And taking care of children after the divorce is no problem either because the government again forces the non-custodial parent to keep supporting his former family even when he no longer is allowed to live with them and enjoy the benefits of having a family.
If people weren't forced to support each other against their will when they no longer have any relationship to speak of, then perhaps they would value their marriage more and try to be nice to each other in order to avoid divorce.

Well, people need to stop being fake mofo's and learn the real feeling and meaning of love.
I was will a person for 11 years I'm so glad I never married that mofo and the reason I didn't is because I never loved him.
People think it's so neat to marry yet they don't even know the first thing about commitment.
If people would stop ******* around on their partners that would be cool but **** maybe when hell freezes over.

people get married not realizing how much work goes into marriage and thinking that marriages are disposables. If they are made to realize that they cannot BY LAW get a divorce for the first years no matter what, they will think about it before they get married. It is just to easy to get married simply because they know it is just to easy to get divorced.

i believe that if you cut down on premarital sex, and encourage only dating (courting) if you are serious about the person, that could help.
I only say this because i know of many ppl who have had arranged marriages, and if you look at those cultures, they have an incredibly low divorce rate-and predominately happy marriages. I am not suggesting arranged marriages for our country, but obviously we are doing something wrong...

I think you can do one of two things:
1. Make it hard as hell to get married.
and
2. Make it hard as hell to get divorced.
