Even though we've voted in the best govt this country is likely to see, and have a great economy, there is always some things that dont measure up to the high standards we expect.
What in the last 10 years has been a bit of a let down for you, from this govt?
For me, its been the on-going problem with immigration, a country our size can only house so many, and take so much, before something has to give!
Also, i'd like to see a proper crackdown on those among us who refuse to work and cheat benefits, yet somehow never seem to get caught, or if they do, manage to continue with little more than a slap on the wrist. I know many people who have been hauled up for cheating, yet still do not work.
I'd like to see both these things addressed during the next term of office, be-it Brown Blair or who-ever.
What for you, has been a let down?

Mick - people have very short memories and have forgotten the economic turbulence of the 1980s, Black Wednesday, 18% interest rates, 3 million unemployed, negative equity, etc.
And even though there have been massive improvements in the NHS, for example, people simply refuse to believe it. They have forgotten what waiting lists used to be like, or the cancer death rates.
Likewise with Education. Not a single school (or anything other than a portacabin classroom) was built in my area under the Tories. We've had no less that 15 entirely new schools built in the last 10 years.
So all in all I would give Labour 9 out of 10 for what they've achieved.
I would have liked them to be a bit more determined to sort out the House of Lords, introduce regional government in England, and devolve powers accordingly, eliminated two tier local Government where it still exists, and introduce more electoral reform (but not necessarily PR). A more dynamic house building/renovation/conversion programme would also have been beneficial

Why could Labour supporters bypass to the BNP and alter it? The BNP is powerful wing, Labour is left wing. maximum people who help or supported Labour could by no capacity dream of going that far actual. Labour had to alter. the reality that John important gained a familiar election shows how vulnerable Labour have been. in case you won't be in a position to get elected, they you may desire to alter. you may desire to allure to the middle classification by using fact maximum persons of human beings in the rustic are center classification. The working classification is dying out, human beings nonetheless think of of themselves as working classification, yet they like center classification policies, that's why they voted Labour in 1997. The tories are on the advance by using fact they have a pacesetter with extra aura than the Labour chief. basic as that. forget approximately all the policies that Labour have carried out over the final 12 years, forget approximately each little thing, it fairly is concerning the character of the chief, and the reality that events discover it complicated to stay for extra desirable than a decade unquestionably. The tories did it purely by using fact Labour refused to alter. The Tories have had to alter, bypass extra to the centre, by using fact the centre is the place maximum anybody is. on the subsequent familiar election there'll nonetheless be 2 possibilities, Labour or Conservative. no longer something extra. human beings could vote someplace else, yet understanding they are making a assertion approximately which 0.33 social gathering they like in.

The guy below clearly has no idea what you're on about..
I think that more attention needs to be paid to areas of poverty in the UK rather than spend in the large cities. What was the new Welsh assembly building all about? Was it necassary at all? I'm not sure who funded it, but it wasn't needed. Also the serious crime increase needs adressing.. it's scary.

Good point Labour have done a good job when measured against previous governments their not perfect by any stretch.
My main concern is the one you mentioned about lazy scrounging benefit cheats who should be made to clean beaches and canals etc until they get off their a....s and get a job to contribute something usefull to society, more help for the average working class would be nice, but on the whole we r doing quite well, most people r making big bucks on their houses so this will help our children's future as we can pass on that wealth to them and all this is only possible because of a stable economy and long may it continue.
Keep out the Tory scum who are hiding under labours red robes but will revert to type as soon as they get the chance...,,,

I am an honest Labour Voter - man and boy.
Here are my LAbour short falls of the last 10 years.
In no particular order.
1. Council Tax - don't even bring up the Poll Tax - I amongst many others would be paying far less with the Poll tax, and now the council want to walk around my house and see if I have a conservatory and loft conversion to see if I am eligible to pay for more. Apart from that.
2. Tax by Stealth - Gordon Brown has introduced over 50 taxes (very quietly).
3. War monger Blair - he has sent troops to Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Afganistan and Iraq, spent Billions on War which nobody felt would benefit this country, yet let Mugabe get away with Murder. Yet while he sends the Troops away, he does not equip them properly.
4. Millions marched against the war, and even more marched against the hunting act - he ignores his voters and refuses to compromise.
5.The NHS - despite the fact that billions have been invested in the NHS, we now face redundancies and ward closures, which to be fair we did under the tories. So if we are facing redundacies and closures where has this money gone? Squandered the lot of it, on worthless image consultants, computers and yet more managers. What a waste of money - your money, my money! The NHS spent over £250 000 on their Christmas do at the. Thats money well spent in my book, especially when they are closing wards and making staff redundant.
6.Education - Instead of raising the standards they have instead lowered them and then claimed that the state of the Education system is better because more people are passing. What a load of crap. he also makes students pay for their education (which they never did under the Tories) now leaving students thousands in debt when they leave Uni. Well done Labour. Milk snatcher Thatcher. Alot of you people have selective memories. MIlk from kids or leaving millions of students thousands in debt. I would choose milk form kids any day.
7.Scandels - Cash for Peerages, Cash for Passports, Questions for Cash, Mandelson, Two Jags, Livingstone, Ministers looking for gay sex on Clapham common, Tessa Jowell, it goes on and on. Again the Tories do it and then Labour take it off the scale.
8. Business. More Red Tape, more minimum wages. More people are going out of business since the global recession of the 80's.
9. Asylum and Immigration - I konw lets let in anyone, regardless of who they are, whether they have criminal records or not, whether they are NHS tourists and have diseases such as Hepititas, Aids etc..., jobs, housing. Lets not worry whether we have enough housing for them, or infrastructure and how much it is going to pay Mr and Mrs Taxpayer. Forget the 'lets travel to the nearsest country to claim asylum', lets get some organised crime syndicate to exploit us and get us to the U.K.
10. More stabbings, gun crime, re offenders released early to reoffend, lets not even put burglers and drug dealers inside, because they have had an oppressed child hood and deserve a hug. While we are at it, the drug addicts who are in prison - lets give them £2 or £3k because they have had a hard time doing cold turkey.
11.Multi Cultralism- I am not even going there.
12. British born terroists. Speaks for itself.
13.Human rights, lets give those who commit crimes as much rights as those who have been victims of crime.
14. The police. Spend millions on more officers, who get more and more paper work. ASBO's - don't work - these are now a status symbol. What a waste of resouces and money setting them up.
15.George Bush, well done Tony, keeping following him.
16.Big Brother.
17.Broken the family unit up, leaving kids with no respect for elders and each other. Education starts at home.
18. Sold Britian down the river to Europe.
19.Welfare no work. Work harder those on benefits depend on you!!!
20. Civil Servents earning thousands in pensions which are paid for by the public and now the public cannot afford private
pensions because they are paying for the civil servants.
21. Political Correctness.
22. Spent billions on image consultants and quango's to help British services run better and gets zero results. Can you imagine if The rail and gas and electric services were still run by the Government, we would be paying twice as much now.
23. Finally ID cards.
Benefit cheats and Immigration are key issues like you said, just a few other issues need addressing by Brown / Millbrand or whoever.
I too think this government has been amazing. In 10 years they have acheived so much, like a good econmomy and ermm, erm, well?

Is this some kind of sick joke?
I think this question was posted by a New Labour wonk...
I am disappointed by New Labour for many of the reasons listed below: an illegal war, inefficient taxation and the erosion of civil liberties.
One recent event was particularly galling: Gordon Brown scrapping the 10% tax rate. This seems somewhat hypocritical given all the pious talk of 'making work pay' and eradicating child poverty.
Using the Murdoch press to spin the story as a wonderful and generous piece of altruism for 'the working man' highlights the cynicism that characterises this government.
New Labour is a disgrace.

to be fair - the parlimentary system was hijacked by political parties aiming for thier own goals. originally, M.P.'s "in touch" with thier constiutiants would vote for their constuiants views and not the party whip.
MP's should vote for what is good for the common good, not thier "carrer good" - alot of MP's who are wet behind the ears graduates and study policial history, and where spoon fed a theory about how the world ticks - perhaps they should get off their middle classed arses and graft for a living (like the rest of us) and do something for the average man before the far right politicians expliot this effect and gain from it - REMEMBER WHAT ADOLF HITLER DID????

the Labour Government has done lots over the last 10 years - with one of its promises for Devolution - that was in 1997, 10 years on that promise has now been fully met - with all 3 countries getting it. And obviously independence will come (SNP)
This government has, thankfully kept the Tories at bay with their new and "Third Way" polices, OK some have not been the great success story that we would have hoped, and more, like you say has to be done with the non skilled immigrants entering out boarders.

have you not cottoned on yet about he immigration, tony wants to be presedent of the u.s.of europe, if he is forced to let the people vote like they have been begging for all these
years he knows the brits will vote out, the constitution as well.
so he brings in all those east europeans who will vote for staying in, he is manipulating them as a foreign army to get their vote to beat the british and complete the betrayal of our country, so your children can inherrit a foregn occupied state instead of their own country.
