A question to new college students (18 to 21 year olds preferred) . . .?

Question

1. How do you feel about college?
2. What do you do while in class (participate or do nothing)?
3. Do you have any classes in computer labs? Do you dink around on the internet more than pay attention to the activities?
4. How do you feel about your teachers?
5. Do you feel that college is a waste of time, or that certain classes waste your time?

I just want some general opinions. Community college students are more than welcome to answer! This isn't aimed at just state university students.

(I have a reason for this question, but I just want to see what people say right now.)

1. I feel that I wouldn't be able to achieve my dreams without attending college, so I'm glad I'm here.

2. Some of my classes only have about 20-30 students. Some of them have over 200 students. Let's just say that I participate in the classes with 20-30 students. One reason being: the professor actually takes the time to interact with the students and just doesn't stand in front of the room and give notes.

3. When I had a class in the computer lab, I played around on the internet b/c of the simple fact that I didn't understand what the professor was saying. The class was hard, and he wasn't good @ teaching it, so I saw no reason to actually pay attention.

4. I have mixed feelings about my professors. I know that I'm in college and I need to learn how to handle tough situations, but some of them are teaching really HARD classes at really FAST paces. It's like they don't care that we have other classes, they're constantly demanding more. Others are really good @ what they do. They don't baby us or anything, but they seem to be more considerate when it comes to outside assignments and the pace of the classes.

5. We are required to take general classes, and I feel that some of the general education requirements are supposed to broaden our knowledge, but I'm not really exactly interested in all of them, such as Music Appreciation, which I'm currently taking as a Fine Arts requirement.

I'm a freshman and I go to the University of Pittsburgh
1. I absolutely love college, it's even better than I expected. I came from a small town so even the city atmosphere is a learning experience and is exhilerating. I love college because everything is challenging, everything finally seems to be connected (ie: I've learned about the same topic in my gothic literature class and my biology class), and everything I learned before just seems basic. In college, my ideas have been challenged.
2. In my smaller classes (literature and writing), I participate a lot (partly because I'm being graded and partly because I do have something to say) but I usually can't in the bigger classes.
3. I've had one class in a computer lab (calculus lab, bleh) and we didn't have time to fiddle around on the internet.
4. Most of the teachers I've had are very interesting and know their subject well. They're usually easy to talk to.
5. College is not a waste of time. I could be in college forever simply because I'm interested in so many things and love learning (I'm a dork, I know). I do feel like certain classes waste my time though, especially if I just took that class in high school but it's still nice to learn. Also, I feel like some labs (biology especially) are a waste of time simply because you don't really learn anything and you spend 3 hours a week doing a ridiculous experiment and then another few hours a week preparing for the lab/writing a lab report for a 1 credit class.

1. It's alright.
2. I participate in the classes that allow participation, but most of the classes are just lectures, so I sit there and take notes.
3. No. But I do carry my laptop to class, and sometimes if the professor begins to lecture on something I'm already familiar with, I get on the internet.
4. All the professors are pretty awesome - but I must admit, I've had one or two that are pretty burnt out on the subject they were teaching.
5. I feel that certain classes are a waste of time - it's a drag that certain universities and colleges require students to take a "core curriculum" and waste money on classes that pertain in no way whatsoever to the college student's major or field of interest.

well I am still in high school but I am going to college full time through high school. so i'll answer this.
1) It's ok, i thought that in college there wont be a lot of people goofing around since most pay for it with loans but I still see people goofing around and leaving in the middle of class all the time.
2) most classes are lectures so just take notes or do hwk from other classes.
3) I had a computer class, web designing so we were on internet a lot but mostly did our work.
4) They are k. Some of them are boring. Each class is like 2:45 min long and they lecture non stop after a while it gets hard to concentrate.
5) maybe some of the classes. I am more interested in science and math but I still have to take humanities and psychology, sociology and all. I guess they are k but if I was paying for them my self i would not want to take them.

The grandpa remark ability that he's slightly self-unsleeping of the age distinction. maybe he's extra attentive to your relative immaturity than you're. yet you're an person now, so the age distinction is far less considerable than it would have been some years in the past. besides the undeniable fact that, if he's of a distinctive ethnicity, way of existence and u . s . a ., then you definately must be careful. He might have distinctive expectancies of a relationship than you do if one among you is envisioned to marry interior your person ethnicity/way of existence/faith.
