Hi everyone...Son is trying (struggling) to finish up a huge project on India. Can anyone give me simple (if possible) customs or cultures of India? Any websites would help as well...Thanks in advance!!! We appreciate the help!!!

Just in general-there are many celebrations and customs. Here are some examples:
Diwali: This is the festival of lights. It's celebrated by many Indians and Hindus as the triumph of good over evil. Many Indians turn on the lights in their homes all day on this celebration. People bring desserts and treats over as well.
Rahki: Rahki is the celebration between the bond of a brother and sister. On this day, the sister ties a rahki bracelet around her brother and feeds him a small piece of a sweet. They embrace and wish each other happy and healthy/safe long long lives and he gives her some money.
There are many religious festivals. As far as customs go-hmmmm...some things include:
*arranged marriages (though not as common now adays)
*very elaborate four day weddings.
*courtship is becoming more accepted in Indian culture now.

India is an age old country.
It has several customs organized by geographical region, language, and religion. There are hundreds and thousands of practices Indians do.
Are you looking for holidays?
Or festivals?
Or Holy stuff?
for any of these, first search wikipedia.org
not all females wear sarees, that's being discriminatory...
they wear a variety of clothing and judging them by that is sooo unfair.
not all practice Hinduism, that is offensive to others [i am a hindu but]
also there are hundreds of dialects in India besides Hindi okay, so get with it!

They decorate the Future Brides hands with Henna. Indians revere and worship cows .They believe in Arranged Marriages. They are very generous to others and will give all they have to their house guests.They have very Elaborate weddings .When an Indian couple become Engaged they are showered with money, for their future life together.I have only made bullet points of info I hope this is of use to you.
