For a free program, i would also recommend Google sketchup. Not only is it intuitive and easy to use, it comes with a lot of free libraries and is used in the conceptual stages of a lot of leading architectural firms (Later stages are mostly handled with the industry standard Autodesk AutoCAD). So i recommend you give it a try.

PS: you can also do 3D views of your floor plan along with basic rendering.
