Yes, she is right to be ABLE to say this about the USA. It may not be my opinion, or even your opinion but if she feels that way she is at total liberty to be able to speak how she feels.
And is weird and backward necessarily bad? Those states ARE very different than her English home and I'm sure for someone that goes as long as she does away from home, the more different things get, the more homesick frustration is going to come out.
In any case, I'll take the open honest opinions of Lily Allen over polite "political correctness" anyday.

Well most things to them aer backwards here in America. Their steering wheel is on the opposite side of the car, they drive on the opposite side of the road. Its very different than the UK....everyone has their own opinions. I think l would say the same if l were to go to the UK.

She is known as a big mouthed chav a like but that is quite often the perception of certain areas of the US. I try not to have those opinions because I have never been there to see for myself but have seen programmes on tv and various literature which suggests the same thing.

Most of the people originate from Europe so technically the ones who lived here changed. Besides it is just an opinion. she never stated it as a fact.

All I have to say is that if the "snot" doesnt like it here she can always fly back home!!!!! Let her try and make her millions somewhere else.
