I have a bad habit of smiling at the stupidest, most inappropriate times.
In class I frequently start smiling and having to hold back laughter for absolutely no reason. I just start smiling.
This happens when I`m trying to say something bad, like if there`s a funeral or if someone got in trouble.
I really want to stop! What should I do??

this used to happen to me when i was younger and now i notice it in my kids/ i personally think it is a defense against feeling negative . I'm no Dr but Ive studied a little and i think its kid of like oppositional defiance / kinda like your naturally a happy person but there is so much negative you defend yourself with a smile sometimes before you can help yourself
it can get you in trouble to especially when someone you may even respect is trying to make a serious point and you start laughing like a police officer dont worry about it so much please stay happy the world needs you(smile) but if its severe it could be a side effect of ADD,AHDD im no dr I just know what you talking about.

Not sure of anything you can do, but you'll probably just grow out of it. I used to do the same thing, only mine involved laughing, not just smiling! I think it was a response to stress. I don't do it anymore, and haven't since my early 20's.

samething happens tome me sometimes. what i do is jsut think of somehting serious and try very hard to get the thought thats making me smile out of my mind. If u change what you are thinking about it becomes easier not to smile.

Don't think about it to much, and time will eventually take it away.
Over the summer I said "spooky" a lot.
Now, I say "Your mom..."
