Has anyone read this article? Its really good. It makes me feel proud because i'm one of those types of people. I mean, i listen to Iron Maiden and stuff, but i'm doing really good in school also. People think that the types of people that listen to heavy metal are stupid and this article proves them wrong. Tell me what you think.

I've listened to heavy metal and thrash for almost 20 years and my I.Q. is 147.

I've done very well in and i've listened to some really heavy stuff because for some reason i feel better when i listen to it. other music seems to only pay attention to what they want and what they'll do to get it. it is so materialistic or depressing tat it sounds fake and unrealistic. metal seems to be more realistic in the sense of talking about not just political or social issues but also personal problems such as family and relationships. even death and black metal have a better sense of reality than other forms of music because autopsy and religion becoming a brainwasher are things that are actually happening. if there was a genre that has never changed over the years or has never followed any "fad" that would have to be metal.

But this does not necessarily mean that you are an exceptional individual, only that you are seeking out a method of coping that is commonly attributed to highly intelligent young adults. What this study tells us is that this group of people, of which you claim to be one, is seeking a way to cope with the fact that a nascent cognizance of their intellectual abilities causes them to seek out and hold onto outside identities. Now that you have this knowledge, what can you do with it ?
