I'm a phlebotomist at a hospital, and every single day since I started, I always get stuck with a stack of work requests right before my shift ends. When I try as hard as I can to get through them, the lab constantly pages me to go here, there, EVERYWHERE on top of the stack of orders. Please give me some good suggestions as to how I can politically correctly do just so much until maybe 15 minutes prior to the shift change so I can do the things I need to in order to wrap up and get out on time. By the way, several women in the back of the lab really enjoy watching me run my butt off at the last minute while they scream their orders at me. How can I put them in their place????

If there's someone coming in on the next shift, it is acceptable to leave the work for them. Don't try to hide. Just politely tell them that you will be leaving work when your shift ends. Don't get back at them. They're probably miserable and have sad lives anyways.

Hospitals always need phlebotomists. I would say start looking for another position, because you are the victim of a clique. You probably won't be able to change the attitude of the rest of the staff. If you do decide to find another job, make sure you tell the personnel department at the current job what is happening. Let them know that you are prepared to speak to the Labor Board if the pattern doesn't change. You probably won't get very far, which is why I say you should seek another job. But, hey, if you can get some satisfaction from Personnel, it's worth a shot.
Good luck!

You need to be in a position of power. Secretly apply for a management position. Dont let a single word about it spread at all. Train hard and get the management position. Then after you get it, come in and begin giving the orders yourself. When they ask why you are giving them their orders - just calmly inform them that you are now their boss.

Wasn't this part of the story line in Office Space? Maybe try leaving early or altering your schedule to come in later and leave later after they give you the orders. Or, tell your supervisor is a good solution to this.

Get on the loud speaker about 30 minutes before your shift ends and announce, "this is your 30 minute warning - I will exit the building in 30 minutes......29 minutes and counting......"
