I need help on trying to transfer TV shows from a tape to a DVD...can anyone help answer a Q for me?
I rented Twilight Zone dvds from the video store. I have a VCR that lets you copy dvds onto VHS tape, which I did and now I have the entire series on VHS. Now I am trying to transfer those VHS tapes to dvd but my recorder says that it can't be done because it is copyrighted. Why would it let me transfer to VHS without a problem but not to dvd? I there anything I can do to make this work? Any answers would help me out a lot!!! THANK YOU!!!

there is the rub. The vcr does not recognise the signal from the dvds that say they are not copiable but the dvd player does recognize the signal. There are some tpes that have the same type of protection and all devices shut down when that signal is there. It is doubtful that you will get this tape to transfer.

I transferred home tapes to DVD's with a program on my computer. I am not sure, but you have to try an copy the tapes to your computer and then to the DVD-RW disk. Your computer has to be able to make the connections from a DVD player. It has been about 4 years that I did it so it will take some fooling around to get the correct way to do it. You may want to check with the fellows at Best Buy.
