They'll say something that could be taken as mean in the most serious voice and then they'll tell me they were just joking. I believe them, but it's just really hard for me to tell when they're just kidding and when they're being really serious. Is there anything I can do? thanks!

Well don't take anything they say seriously...Other than that...just train yourself to their personalities. In the meantime, just assume everything they're telling you is a joke. If not, seek new more comprehensible friends.

I would say something mean back but in a joking way...if they can dish it I'm sure they can take it. Because I hate when people be doing that.

It sounds like it's only partially joking...meanness isn't funny...let them know you don't share their sense of humor.

just tell them. and if they dont change, then dont laugh afterwards if they were joking. just be like, it would have been more funny if it sounded that way. you know what i mean?

There is absolutely nothing you can do because I am the same way with my friends. I won't change and I am certain they won't either. Soooo, just accept it.
