I have a 2DR 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix. I have had problems with my driver side window only working every now and then. It seems that if I let it sit for a bit, it will go up partially and then stop. It seems that the motor is getting warm and shutting itself off. I know that the rubber guides are somewhat sticky, especially in the summer, and seem to really make my windows go up slow. I tried lubricating them last summer with graphite lubricant. I worked somewhat poorly and the problem is back. I'm not sure if I can get by with better lubrication on the rubber or if I should replace my motor. If I need to replace, my motor, can I just replace the motor or should I replace the entire window regulator and motor??

There is a circuit breaker block on the fuse panel. It is probably kicking out when it gets hot and then resets itself when it gets cold again.Replace the breaker.probably looks like this---

before you replace things - you should take the inside cover off the door and make sure the window support track is lined up with the upper window frame ok. otherwise it will bind. maybe the car has had a window replaced or some body work on the door and it is not adjusted right. also make sure the curve if the glass matches the frame. just sounds like you got to much friction in the frame.

you can just replace the motor but you have to drill out the rivets and then find small bolts to put it back on with, and try lubeing your window tracks real good with lithium grease and a brush, if you decide to put a new motor on it don't go to the dealer for the motor as they are like $120. and the parts store sells it for $60.
