I've heard various things about Finland. How is its political system, standard of living, and stuff like that? How does it compare overall to the US?

Finland is a beautiful place to be. The political system is a western style parlimentary democracy. The standard of living is very high. Of course, Finns pay very high taxes to support many government programs. Overall living in Finland is similar to living in any other Western European country and similar to a certain extent to living in the US.

Winter is very cold, and most of the day is spent in dusk/dark but the summers are amazing with daylight almost the entire 24 hour day.

I feel standard of living in FInland can be rather high ( if u shud wanna stay within the city ) It is nevertheless a beautiful city.Then again, scandivania isnt that much different from one nother cept for the language.Its harder to understand the finns than anywhere else.Whether can be cold as hell sometimes then again,its almost the same ere in Sweden..LoL..

It has a good standard of living; its GDP growth was 6% last year.

Its educational system is among the best in Europe.

It was the first country in Europe to allow universal suffrage. It's a parliamentary government.

The Finns are stereotyped as cold or withdrawn, but I've found them to be friendly once they get to know you.

It's freakin' cold in the winter. Spring and summer are breathtakingly beautiful.

There's strong support for the arts.

Overall I've seen pics and it looks like a nice place to live it. I would definitely go and live there if I could leave the U.S.
