I'm a freshman in high school,I have a plan to graduate in next two years.
The main reason is that I'm one year older than other freshman, cause my birthday is on August,so I waited one year later to start school,I feel I'm so old!
I talked to my counselor. But she said that's not a good idea, here is her theory:
1st,people who do that usually have some things to take care, like a baby,or going to military directly
2nd,to my surprise,if you gradate early, you're probably not getting into good college, cause good college wants people to take AP courses,if you want to squezze your classes together in order to finish early, you may not take AP classes. Also, you don't have that much time to do commnunity service and school activities that good college care about
3rd, she said age is not even a problem, I shouldn't even consider about it,but to me,it is!
So, do you think age is a problem? And is that ture that if you graduate early, you are not getting in good college?

One of my friends graduated high school in 3 years. She got into a pretty good college and even got a couple of scholarships. (There are some out there specifically for people who graduate in 3 years.) You can still take some AP classes. Maybe not as many as you could if you spent 4 years in high school, but you can do a couple. It is really up to you to decide if you care about all the senior year stuff like prom, or if you are more interested in getting out early. If you get to your junior year and you change your mind, you could probably still back out and stay your senior year, and you would have a really light course load. You are not tied down right now, so start planning for being able to get out in 3 years, and then you still have another year to make your final decision.

Age is definitely not a problem, some people enter college at 17 and some at 21, it does not really matter, as long as you havn't had a bad record which held you back so caused you to graduate late. I think the best thing to do to get into a good college.. (you are probably refering to an IV league college, these are the only ones where community service is really essential) I think you should do as much as you can while in school even if it means graduating later.
