Thta's probably a bit much. Like some people, fish can easily over eat and get fat. I would suggest you feed him onoy as much as he can eat in 2-3 minutes twice a day. Try to mix up his diet a bit too. Add in some bloodworms, brine shrimp and things like that. I feed flakes or pellets once a day and a special food like those I mentioned once a day. I think it's better for the fish over all.

Have you ever looked at his belly after you feed him like this? It's probably really big and bloated. I have a betta that will eat until I don't feed him anymore. I learned quick that he's not really hungry. Afterwards he just kinda floats around. It really depends on the food that you buy on how much you should feed them. Some foods are designed so that you can feed them twice or even 3 times a day. Most however are designed different. With most foods the general rule of thumb is 5-6 pellets every other day. An alternative to this is 2 to 3 pellets every day. They seem happier if they eat every day so this may be what you decide to do. Check on the back of your food and see how often it suggests....

Over is one of the top 3 reasons bettas die early death. Dirty water, and temps outside the 75-85F range are the other 2. In nature for a fish like a betta it's always feast or famine. So he'll eat as much as his stomach will hold. He really only need about as much food as the size of his eye ball once a day, 6 days a week. I'd stop feeding him for at least 2 days ASAP then start a normal feeding schedule.
PS- Bettas always beg for food once they've learned you feed them. The little pigs will eat themselves to death.

Fish will beg for food. You have to be smart enough not to fall for it every time and stick to a routine. He will eat like a trailer whale at a golden corral restaraunt until he's too unhealthy to live. Many fish aren't used to feasting conditions in nature and you can kill them pretty easy by overfeeding. Bettas are really prone to long term overfeeding related illnesses. Its in your fish's best interest to only feed him small quantities when you feed him.

yes, over feeding can lead to health problems with the fish, it also raises the nitrogen level of the water. only feed the fish what it can eat in a couple of minutes. most fish, if given and unlimited supply of food, will eat until they will explode.

Maybe. You don't want your betta to be fat, don't you? For best health conditions, make sure it has a rounded belly.

He isn't necessarily begging for food but company, they get like that, mine did too. If he's getting fat, it's too much, if not he'd be fine. ;)
