It's a corruption of God Friday which commemorates when Jesus was crucified, taking the punishment for all our sins ans repairing our relationship with God.
Happy Easter!

Some view the term "Good Friday" (used in English and Dutch) as a corruption of the term "God's Friday
Good Friday is called good because on this day Jesus was crucified for our redemption of our sins. In the Old World Christian Churches...Orthodox Churches, it is called "Holy Friday." Latin nations, Slavs and Hungarians call it "Great Friday;" in Germany it is "Friday of Mourning;" and in Norway, it is "Long Friday."

if i remember the languages correctly then this is the story...
in latin, it was called God Friday. like the Lord God, or whatever.
when it was translated into other languages, there were mistranslations and in english and other languages we now call it "good friday". it's the difference of an 'o'.
just like the thing with the Red Sea deal with the Exodus. people think it was actually the Reed Sea because it may have been mistranslated into all bibles as "red sea"
hope that helps.

It's called Good Friday because Jesus died for our sins. It has absolutely nothing to do with the feelings of the people then. Christians view it as "good" because Jesus died for mankind so that our sins may be forgiven.
