i would like to know roughly how much i should pay for a rear pasenger side wheel cylinder for a 2001 rover 25. should i go to a rover dealer or just buy a generic one. thanks to all who takes time tto answer.

oh dear god a generic one there essntially the same thing you just don't have to pay through the nose for the name tag always if possible aviod dealership prices

It should cost about $40 at most for the part, and about $120-$150 for the labor, as they will have to power flush the air out of the system once they install the new wheel cylinder. Any brake shop can handle it.

BTW, it's odd that your wheel cylinder failed so soon, unless you have a lot of miles on it or you drive it offroad at lot.

I used to work at a brake repair shop and as long as the part is new and from a reputable manufacturer it is usually OK. As for the cost you will need to know how much the part is(Repair shop mark up is sometimes as much as 100%), and the labor rates in your area. Call around and get a quote.

rovers dont make w/cylinders. tyres. h/gaskets ect they commission specialist manufacturers to make these items to their spec. and add a mark up. the information already given is quite correct. a good quality pattern part could be oe anyway and normally costs less.

No need to buy Rover. Check out ebay they have loads of new parts at bargain prices.

you can go to any garage it dosent have to be a main dealer as it is a quit simple job

go to the parts store and get one, a lot cheaper, I just replaced one this week on a pontiac and it cost me $10.00.
