When I was younger & went to dances we always had to have a perm. marker mark on our hand, I found that 2 ways got it off, baby oil or fingernail polish remover, I do not know if this would work on the wall, but it may help, its worth giving it a try. Good luck getting the mark gone. Take care.

Alcohol removes permanent marker from any smooth surface. But, I wouldnt suggest that for your walls. Use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. You can find them at any mass merchandise retailer. They only cost 3 bucks and they work on everything.

Have you tried Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser
or making a paste from baking soda and water I know that works with crayon marks that and a lot of elbow grease

You might try an abrasive cleanser like Ajax or Comet and "sand off the spot". Otherwise I would have said KILZ and paint

If you can't afford paint then you are screwed.
A picture hung over it.
Maybe the magic eraser from Mr Clean?
