Take a nice warm bath and then lay in bed and read an easy going book. Don't try anything to complicated or taxing, i like to read chick lit when i need to sleep. Easy going and easy to read.
Things not to do when you want to fall asleep quickly:
Watch anything too exciting on telly. In fact, try to switch the telly off at least an hour before you go to bed to give you brain time to wind down.
Eat anything heavy or drink fizzy drinks of caffine drinks.
Go on the computer! Switch the computer off an hour at least before you want to sleep.

This answer isn't really what you want, I think, since it's under psychology... try cutting sugar out of your diet, especially after 3:00 P.M. No pop, juice, ice cream, or potatoes, you just might drop right off to sleep. Also, make sure you use up all the energy you've taken in during the day, put in a hard day's work. Exhaustion works every time!

Well, here's the trick and I guarantee that it will work... When you are relaxed and trying to sleep, note where your tongue is positioned. It is resting on the roof of your mouth. This is the common, relaxed position for the tongue for virtually everyone.
Now, to get those thoughts out of your mind so you can sleep, just position your tongue in the middle of your mouth and concentrate on keeping it there without touching the roof of your mouth. This "tongue position" concentration keeps you from all of those other thoughts that were racing through your mind and, the next thing you know, the sun is coming up.

It comes very quick for me as long as the room is quiet and dark. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm gone. Don't drink coffee or hot chocolate last thing, it stimulates the brain, making it longer to fall asleep.

you can get a small device that gives different relaxers such as running water, rain a sea lapping me I just close my eyes and say it over and over in my mind I must relax re lax re laxee
over and over some count sheep that's boring Hope you get a good nights sleep
