I guess the first question to ask is how old of an iPod is it? If it is some of the older generations where they had problems with battery life, you probably will need a new one especially if you use it alot. The battery life will subside unfortunately.

Sounds like your battery may be shot. If your iPod is few years old, that is a pretty common issue. Go to ilounge.com for more discussion. While you might be able to replace your own battery (if you are handy), there are companies that do it for you. That being said, it might be time for a new one. You can sell your old one on eBay to someone who does replace batteries.
