Yep, the courts nationwide tend to favor the women. In your case, though, it seems any decent lawyer could win for your father.
Hope this helps in some odd way.

Can you answer a few questions...how old are you? When you say she gambles does that mean she is outside the house or is she doing it on the internet (and also what type of gambling)? When you say she provides little to the family, what do you mean exactly? are you talking financially, I am sure you mean she is not around to talk to, does she not clean and cook for you...I am very curious what you mean...The only reason I am asking is that I am getting divorced now but my kids are only 6 and 2 but I also love to gamble. I do not gamble 6-12 hours a day but I do do it daily on the internet and try to do it live a few times a month (and of course on occasion go to Atlantic City)...but I really am curious what you mean by she provides little...I know I am a good mom and help with my kids homework etc...I just don't want my ex- to turn things around on me...
As long as your mom is not doing drugs and causing physical harm to you, I believe the courts do favor the mother...but if you are older, than I think you have a right to tell the judge how you feel and who you want to live with...good luck

Not sure what state you are in or your age, but if you feel your father will take better care of you, make sure the courts know that. The courts are suppose to look out for your best interest (the child). It seems that you would be old enough to be able to have some say in where you want to live.
If your mom has a gambling problem and is not taking proper care of you and your father can and will provide a stable home environment the courts should hear that information.
Hope this is helpful information for you.

Even with all the answers that the court "favors the mother" unless you can prove that she is "unfit". So being a dad automatically makes you a unfit parent and have to prove that the father is fit? Right there answers your question why the court system is broken!

Yep it sucks . woman have equal rites and i agree with that .But the court system is still going by the old values . Another words a man is suppose to be the supporter of the family and the woman is to stay home and raise the children . Try telling woman to stay home and raise kids today huh they start crying abuse . Where screwed that's why all these guys are going for Asian woman and if it keeps up i believe the American house wife are going to be extinct lol.

dont know about the 'gambling' thing. are you or your siblings eating, sleeping, going to school, doing your homework, are you left alone all the time without a parent or supervisor? will your other parent be away working and youre left with basically the same deal at home? the courts will listen to each of the parents arguments regarding visitation, custody. whatever is in the best interest of the child. its possible that a child/s may be called in to counseling. when kids know whats best for them...they wont be going to school, theyll be working, making a paycheck paying bills and possibly parenting/caring for someone else besides thinking typically self centered as a child/youth will do. sorry youre going thru it. make the best of your situation.
grass isnt necessarily greener in one or the other parent's home. concentrate on your schooling and leave the adult decisions up to the adults. what else can you do? now isnt the time to worry unless you are in some kind of danger. peace

If the woman judge is a lesbian, who knows who she will favor, the same if the judge is gay. But, usually, if the woman judge is in a happy marriage, then she will more than likely favor the woman and not the guy because he will automatically be guilty of everything that is wrong with the marriage. If the judge is a happily married guy, then he will probably have to talk to his psychiatrist to see what he should do, because these kinds of guys are usually confused because the women in their lives usually wear the pants, that's why the judges who are in a happy marriage really aren't, it just appears that way for the public viewing audience and, behind closed doors it is all a whole new world.

They used to. The thought before was the wife raises the child. Give everything to the wife. Now paternal rights are being enforced and honored more in family court. Your dad needs a good family lawyer that can even the playing field, if he wants his rights upheld. Go in looking to resolve matters rather than looking for a fight. If you're even keeled, that'll shine through in family court.

Unless the mother is proved unfit, and the father is proved fit, the mother will most likely win every time. The court system can't go by "heresay". There has to be proof. Perhaps you can use a PI?

they usually look at who is most finacially stable.who can provide for the family better and if need to be it should be brought up in court about her gambling problem and that she dosent provide for the family i bet they will favor the one who is stable.
