Good idea. Now how do we make it happen. Maybe instead of it being a form of punishment it could be a form of redemption. Example: Sentenced to four years of prison( three free meals, t.v., basketball, etc. etc.) and still a felon when sentence completed. Or agree to four years of military service overseas. If you complete the military service without any type of problems, you get a clean record and the opportunity to re-enlist. If you don't complete or have a lot of major problems then it's off to the prison yard. Of course not all crimes would be eligible such as murder, rape, child molestation etc. etc... But I believe it is the best idea there is.

175,000 prisoners in Texas and guessing about 60 % non-violent crimes, with the age of the inmate between 18-35. Take a chance and teach these young men something more than what we are doing now, which is nothing.

All the folks we got in our prison system that is there for life ship them out.
