Becoming a 501C# is not an easy thing. This classification is for non-profit organizations that serve the public good, i.e., Salvation Army, Ntl. Kidney Foundation, etc.. Even some medical associations do not qualify for a 501C3 status. The restrictions are quite serious and generally associations will qualify much easier for a 501C6 status. Check the statutes and see what you might qualify for. You should have an attorney look anything and everything over 1st. There is cost involved in starting a non-profit!
