I've gotten positive results as early as 8 days post ovulation (and know several other women who have had positive results that early, too). The problem, as I'm sure you know, is that pregnancy tests work by detecting hcg, which your body doesn't begin to manufacture until after an embryo has implanted in the uterine lining. Because implantation occurs (generally) sometime between 3 and 10 days after fertilization, well, a positive result on the early side is great, you know you're pregnant...but an early negative result isn't "reliable" because you can't know whether you're really not pregnant, or whether you just don't have enough hcg in your system yet for the test to detect it.
You "should" wait until your period is late, or until 19 days past ovulation. Of course that's easier said than done. If you have to "cave" to the urge to test, which I completely understand, just be prepared to use several tests. And put off testing as long as you comfortably can.
There are tests that say you can use them as early as 5 days before your missed period. (Since they all assume a luteal phase of 14 days, figure they can be used as early as 9 days post ovulation.) (For what it's worth, I had reliable experiences with First Response Early Results tests.)
I found it very difficult to find distractions during the two week wait. Generally, what worked best for me was actually just to say to myself each day "I'll test tomorrow." Waiting one day wasn't *so* difficult...and the following day I'd tell myself the same thing. I really only had to do tell that to myself once in the morning, anyway, because I knew that, especially if testing so early, using anything other than first morning urine was pretty pointless. So if you can get past that first morning hurdle, you may be good for the day.
Best of luck to you!

The earliest is 10 days past ovulation. Keep yourself busy to keep your mind off obsessing. I hope your test comes up positive but keep in mind that a healthy couple has about 20% of conceiving each month. So it may take a few months.

There's not much you can do to keep your mind off of it. The earliest you should even attempt to test is probably going to be April 1st. with a First Response Early Detection. Even with that test you still might not get an accurate reading. You really should just wait unti you miss your period.

some tests can tell 2 days before your period is due but not sure how accurate they are, best waiting til your next period is due. try not to think about it too much meantime, maybe plan a short break for may/june time - hopefully planning will take your mind off waiting

meditate on this:
11By faith Abraham, even though he was past age—and Sarah herself was barren—was enabled to become a father because he[a]considered him faithful who had made the promise.
