There are several ways:
Hold down the left ctrl key and press Print Screen. That snapshots the entire screen.
Hold down the left Alt key and press Print Screen. That snapshots just the current window, the one that the focus is on.
This puts in on the clipboard.
You can then paste the screen shot using ctrl-V in either Paint or in your word processor, assuming it accepts graphics and not just text.

The print screen key takes the screenshot and saves it to your clipboard. The easiest way to view it is to open up Paint and push 'Ctrl' + 'v' or go to Edit and Paste.

Yes, use the print screen key, it is "copied" so you will have to paste it into a graphics editor such as MS Word or MS Paint.

Hit Ctrl + PrintScreen. (The image is now copied onto the Windows Clip Board) Now open Paint and hit Ctrl + V and it will paste the image in the paint program.

Got to Start/Programs/Accessories and run "Paint". Go to the "Edit" menu and click "Paste". You should then see the screenshot. Go to the "File" menu and click "Save As" in order to save the screenshot in any format you like (jpg, bmp, gif, etc)
