Boy, that's a tough one.

Here's the key question...Is Alabama instutionally broken? And has it really undertaken the necessary reforms to help a coach succeed.

My answer to that is...I don't think so.

Saban has his work cut out for him, far more so than he did at LSU. First, he has a much shallower talent pool. Second he has a serious uphill battle against a still ascendant Auburn program. Third, he really hasn't recruited the coaching staff he wanted.

I think the fact that the man doesn't have a loyal coaching staff speaks volumes. When he went from Michigan State to LSU, none of his assistants went with him. When he came from Miami to Alabama, nobody came with him either. What's more, he's had a difficult time filling all his slots. To me, that speaks to an issue handling his personnel.

The other issue is the wildly inflated expectations. When Saban came to LSU, the attitude was "Nick who?" and it took him four years to build a championship program. Meanwhile, Saban was greeted in Birmingham as the second coming of Jesus Christ. How supportive will those same fans be if he goes 7-5 or 8-4 his first year (a very high probability)?

So, Saban has to produce and produce fast to succeed. And I think the talent level and coaching staff just isn't there for him yet, and the fan base will not have the patience to let him build a program.

Roll Tide!!
Oh yes he will

Saban brings alot to the table for our tide. Not to mention all the players that are coming back. Plus are great QB in John Parker.

Are defense will also be great.

I can't wait for the season, allt the charts say that alabama is the one to watch to make a run. I say we easilt go to a BCS bowl in the next year or two.

Once again roooll Tide!!

No. I've never really been sold on the Nick Saban hype. He's been the product of ideal systems and I don't think he's the guy that should have been hired for the 'Bama job. He's waaaay overpriced.

He probably will but not this coming season. Not enough talent there for Nick to do anything with. Also he is in the toughest division of any conference in football.

If he can stay there long enough but he has made a lot of enemies, he left MSU, LSU,and Miami. The guy is the Larry Brown of football. So if he can recruit and stay and show some commitment then he should do ok.
