Usually it's a psychological reaction. For vegetarians that find meat disgusting, vomiting may ensue upon consumption due to their distaste for the stuff. When eaten in small portions, well cooked meat should not cause vomiting unless an allergy is present or a psychological obsession with the idea that eating meat is cruel and/or disgusting has developed.

every body is torn between psychological and physical.. and then some are saying both. and they are all right. If you haven't eaten meat in a long time then try slowly introducing it back in to your system after a period of time you should be able to eat meat regularly. the psychological problem end of it is like this....

Say you eat "Chicken" soup and you love it. You never had chicken soup this way b4. It is so good in fact that you eat 2 bowls of it. when you are stuffed and are about to burst, the cook tells you that it is Turtle soup. then you feel like you want to vomit all over yourself. When you thought it was chicken you were fine, but turtle? See my point?

phychological because their body does not have a problem with meat, but their mind does. They are so revolted by the idea of eating meat that their brian tells their body that meat can not be accepted into their system, Your body is often trigured by what your mind belives, this is similar to the case of faulse pregnancies, where people can become so convinced that they are pregnant that they will become pregnant. Their body will go through all the physical charicteristics, like the enlarge stomach, and the morning sickness, but there will be no embryo. Your mind can have a very powerful effect on your body.

It can be both. A person can be so used to being a vegetarian, that the body cannot digest the meat, and the psychological side can become so repulsed that the person cannot retain the meat.

+either one or both
+meat is more difficult to digest for some people and on some days impossible to digest so it comes right back up
+others are turned off by meat, so they have a psychological reaction to it
+and the quality of meat now comes nothing close to what it once was and so people who'd do fine with high quality meat literally can't stomach the crap we get in the stores today

In a way, it is both. It may be psychological because the might think that meat harms them, so they force themselves to vomit. It is physical because their body is no longer used to eating meat and treats it as a poison, which forces them to vomit to get it out of their systems.

Most likely, a physical action triggered by a psychological reaction. It could also be a purely physical response because the body is not accustomed to eating meat. Many people do gag on foods they are unfamiliar with.

It's more then likely that it's a physical reaction as the person's body isn't used to a certain type of food. There might be a slim chance that it's psychological. But that's only if the person is thinking about it.

It is probably a psychological thing if they knew they were eating the meat. Otherwise it is a physical reaction, his/her body might not be used to it.

It can be both. Someone that hasn't eaten meat for a while can become ill upon eating it. Why? Because the body can lose the ability to digest the meat.

However, someone who throws up upon tasting meat (and finding out that it's meat)... that's mental.
