I'm going to be my fathers company's File Manager and resource finder, and I'd like to have a laptop/ notebook for keeping and organizing his files from each job he< they> complete. do you have a suggestion on WERE i could find one, and what programs would best suit my needs?

A $600 laptop is bad enough, but WITH Microsoft Office? That's over half the price of the laptop setup you want.

Anyway, Many stores such as Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc... have weekly Sunday paper ads for entry level computers sometimes for under $500, even under $400 AFTER REBATES.

Now, as for Microsoft Office, RARELY see any sort of sale price on it.

However, there is a very good substitute program called OPEN OFFICE and it's FREE!

try Dell. they have relatively cheap laptops, although if you add on the needed stuff the cost does add up. you should also check out refurbished computers at dell or apple. they're usually only a fraction of the price of a new one and work just as well.
