Both have had enormous influence in further human right and preventing large scale war since their creation in the 1940s. The EU has prevented any inter-state war between European governments since it was created and the the UN has likely minimized inter-state war far below what we could have expected without it. (Those that did occur were relatively smaller proxy wars between the U.S. and Soviet Union.) Most conflict today is intra-state - civil wars, etc. that the UN Charter prohibits intervention in.

This is not to mention the consolidation of postal, Internet and airline regulations that facilitate communication and travel worldwide and the thousands of interstate agreement on trade and justice that are applied everyday but never picked up on by the media.

As said, UN is a joke. Nobody takes it seriouslly....

Israel happened in early 50's due not to UN but strong influence from few countries. since then, UN is used only as an excuse meanwhile countries like USA does not respect UN resolutions (2nd Iraq war).

EU is another important event. GlobaleEconomy is changing from USA to EUROPE. just take as an example the diference beween Dolar and Euro. How stable Euro is and how badly USA economy is.

EU choose right path binging contries and making money flow, providing propper development to several countries with huge lack of infrastructure. Euro possibility changes a lot within international scene. Strongest companies spread all around the world due financial possibilites from EU.

Arab countries are using to transfer their reserves in dolar to Euro as a somekind of economic weapon. Iran are talking to use Euro instead of dolar to negotiate petrol. (What means less dolar flow within international market).

Moer money are putting more close european companies within arab markets and providing major stability. (Tourism as well).

Well erm. we have provided quite alot of building hardcore, in the form of demolsihed buildings.

The carbon footprint.

Also the people of the middle east now have an approximate idea what the northern lights look like, it`s a bit like lots of ordnance being launched onto and around all of your populated areas, obviously the northern lights don`t have quite the same potential for the changing rooms and garden makeover programs to exploit.

Also alot of paper and energy has been used, wasted and lots of people have made lots of money, for doing nothing much but turning up at meetings and nodding or shaking their heads while not making a contribution in any way proportional to the vast quantities of money they are all being paid, and any sanctions, guidelines or treaties which are agreed upon are completely ignored by most of the countries whose representatives voted for them.

Not a lot. The UN has been a joke for years and the only influence the EU has had is making the UK a worse place to live in.
