I'm looking for the best places to go out in Manchester.
They must NOT play dance / RnB (can't stand it), or have a very strict entry code (I don't like being scrutinised by fat ugly bouncers), or be super-expensive.
Enough of what they must not be - what they must be is chilled out, open late at weekends, play good music if there is music playing (indie, rock, mix of general styles), and have a good ratio of males / females and a good mix of people (not scallies).
Any ideas ??

5th Avenue is a nice place to go for indie music (people tend to be quite young students though, so I am not sure if you are ok with that), then there is the Thirsty Scholar Bar on Oxford Road, just underneat the train bridge (entry is always free), it is really cosy as is Fab Cafe (is even better, sometimes free, sometimes £2-4, off Oxfrod Road). They all play good music and you won't have to listen to dance and r'n'b crap.
The good thing is, that they are all very close to eachother and you can easily move on from one to the next one without having to pay entrance all the time.

5th ave or 42nd street are cheap and play indie and rock music so it sounds like either one of them would be ideal for you. there is no dress code but most guys wear jeans and the ladies dont go all out either as there not that type of place, its mostly students that go to them.
