The only way they will trade him is if the offer is great. They are not dumping him for the money (he is a big hit on the cap but they will take it for his play and leadership).

The plan is to trade up to either the number two spot, the number six spot or work something out with both the Eagles and Giants. Those are the four teams that the Broncos are interesting in dealing with and have the most to offer. Even though he is 30 they aren't going to give him away. Al has been a leader on this team for 8 solid years now and the Broncos don't just throw players under the bus. If they can improve their D-lline or receiving corps with the trade then it is worth it. (Johnson w/ second pick or Gaines Adams w/ sixth)

The Broncos have the fastest LB corps in the league and Al is replaceable but not without a price

Likes Al Wilson, hell of a player, good person but trading him now is probably in Denver best interest and here's why. Although a 5 time Pro Bowler he is aging, he has been battling injuries the past couple of years, and he is around a $5 mill cap bump this year. Probably a good move for Denver to get what they can for him now, and save some cap room.

It's a business decision mainly.

He's not very healthy, with thumb and back issues. (He failed aphysical in NY). He's turning 30, with a lot of miles. He has a high cap figure.

Denver can take better advantage of the younger DJ Williams and draft a replacement if needed.

The only negative in it is that he's a leader in the lockerroom. That's hard to replace.

In the end, if they feel it is time for him to go, better a year or two early, than too late. Look at Trevor Pryce. A great Bronco, he didn't do a ton for Baltimore in '06, especially given his price tag.

Good decision, though I like him a lot.

The Broncos are good at drafting thier linebackers. They drafted in succession Mobley, Wilson, and Williams. Williams replaced Mobley, they can do it again. Besides, Wilson is not gonna get any better with age, it is good to go in the draft, and get up higher in the draft, or get a couple picks for the guy.

Financially..yes. But if they lose wilson than they will be creating a gap. The broncos need to keep him and put together a winning team. No more excuses, lets get a superbowl!

Never trading a high-rate player like him is a good decision. But it all is to get some money.

No. They need him. Without Al they have no linebacking corps. I dont think he will be traded though because the Giants were the only ones interested and that failed because of Al's failed physical.
