i would guess maybe the songs you are skipping are either corrupted or maybe have been removedm but the unit still thinks they are there. sync the unit with your computer and make sure they match, remove corrupted, unwanted files

be a little more gentle with it. you may need to take it in to an apple shop or go online to the apple store and do the customer suppot thingy. Mine does it to by the way. i found out that i wasn't being gentle with it. try resarting it if all else fails by holding down the center button and the menu button and wait for the screen to go black. if your problem presists, take it in to the apple shop.

that has happened to both me and my sister. all you have to do is restart it by holdig down the center button and menu at the same time until the screen goes black. press the center button as close to the menu button as possible.
I'm not sure why that happens, i just know how to fix it quick sorry

Take it back to the store and get a new one. That's what happened to my brothers I-Pod and he took it back to the Apple store and got his money back.

Hi,
Have you updated the software recently? You may need to do that or restore it using iTunes. Good luck.
