Noone has ever seen it. Those who claim to have seen it only saw a very wicked curve. Even Dice-K says he's not sure if he did it.

Media hype! Nothing more! If Mr. Moto was so good why does the media have to pump the public with BS? By the end of the season this triple A pitcher from Nippon will be history.

It's real but it's effectiveness will remain to be seen. Everyone is guessing about it now but if it has merit, it will be exploited by many pitchers and soon. Much like the forkball, it starts with one or two pitchers, gains popularity and is taught. Depending on how hitters adjust to it will qualify it's use.

Forkballs and Screwballs are extremely difficult to hit for anyone who has seen them up close and personal. Reciprocally, the harder a pitch is to see and hit it is usually harmful on a pitcher's arm. I would imagine the difference in throwing this pitch and a fastball is drastic to a pitcher and will likely cause damage to the thrower's arm somehow.

Most likely, this pitch will be "shown" a couple times in warm ups and thrown once or twice in a game to put it in the opposing hitter's minds. Good hitters will dismiss it and look for fastballs. If a guy can throw 3 of them for strikes, the hitter will tip his cap and wait for the next guy who can't.

At the end of the day, if a pitcher has good command of his fastball and changeup, he need only add one pitch that spins (curve, slider or slurve) to keep a major league hitter off balance and get him out.

ITS NOT A GYRO BALL!!!! the sports columnist Woody Paige got one right on the money a few weeks ago. "This "gyro ball" is nothing more than a screwball!" its not a new pitch, its not even an effective pitch! watch for good hitters to begin to sit back and wait on the break of this "gyro" ball and hit it out of the park much like they did and do when the occasional screw ball is thrown.

Yankee D wishes the Bombers had Dice K.....At any rate, even Dice K says he doesnt throw it. It's actaully a 4seam fast ball.

I think it's a myth, maybeMatsuzaka threw a bad slider or curveball tha was misjudged. Maybe he can throw a gyro but I don't think so because I haven't seen anything like it.......yet.

It does'nt exist. Daisuke even said it himself. He has a screwball type pitch that most pitchers don't have though.

It doesn't exist. Matsuzaka admitted it in the recent issue of SI. It was mostly made up by the Japanese media in order to get him a bigger contract.
