There is a great song by Natalie Grant called Held. It's not exactly the storyline you're looking for, but it is a VERY emotional song. My daughter (13) was going to do a lyrical solo to it but her dance instructor pulled the plug on all solos. My daughter was devastated because she had wanted to dedicate her performance to a cousin who died 2 years ago in a all terrain vehicle accident. Listen to the song. I think you'll like it. :)

I don't think it's exactly lyrical, but "At the Ballet" is basically about everything you described.

If that's not good, Evanescence has some nice lyrical songs.

It's kind of hard to find a lyrical song that fits your description, but I could give you some nice lyrical songs that are really pretty. You can email me at dancegrl1093@aim.com if you want a fairly long list of lyrical songs.

You could are attempting: "Lithium" through Evanescence "If you're long gone" via Matchbox 20 I feel like each would work for an emotional lyrical solo. They are each fairly brand new-sounding, too. Each songs are longer than three and a half minutes (confidently not too long or too quick in your purposes). Hope I helped:)

Alanis Morrisette sang a good one similar. It's on her Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie album... I think it's called "Then I Would be Good" Check it out.
