I am on a dance team. Everything was fine, but then come December, it's like everyone can't stand me. I am quiet, but I made a point of going out with the girls once in while and conversating. I have a degree, I am helpful, I hardly complain, the coach likes me, I am a pretty good dancer, so what's the problem? Most of the girls are blonde, loud typical "princess" girls, where I am not like that. I don't hold it against them, but I don't pretend to be something I'm not either. We are all in our twenties, so you'd think they'd be more mature than that. Where exactly did I go wrong that everybody dislikes me so much? I am not imagining this either; it's pretty obvious.

You're "different". That's exactly the problem - and it's THEIR problem, not yours. A frank discussion with your coach is in order, and the sooner the better. For a team to perform at its best, everyone needs to accept everyone else. This sort of clique-forming is death to any hopes of competitive success. If your coach can't straighten 'em out, you may need to consider moving on. Good dancers are valuable - and there certainly are other opportunities for someone like you. I know, it's not fair and it's a pain in the rear and all of that. But human beings, especially those who engage in this sort of very public behavior, are especially prone to this kind of self-centered behavior. Good luck!

Enemies come by the hundred but true friends you can count on one hand. Don't let others be the judge of you when your character is what is most important. You continue to be the best at whatever you put your hands to do (and feet), and don't be moved by those who act friendly but aren't your real friends. The best of friends will be your friend no matter the cost and will accept you when only the proud lifts up their nose only to their loss..

Yeesh. Story of my life. You *would* think they'd grow out of it. That's just it, though. It's *their* problem, not yours. You could have done anything, quite innocently, to incite their ire. People are just like that. If you think any one of then is reasoning, you could try asking her what the misunderstanding is, buuut....... I'm not hopeful about that plan. All you can do is be charming you. :) Good luck!

Have you tried asking them? Could be they're just jealous. It could also be that one person actually had the "grudge" and decided to say some things that weren't true. Until you ask, you'll never know or have a chance to right the wrong.

You'd think they were more mature, but they aren't. That's the problem. It sounds like you did nothing wrong.
