Miniature horses are generally not ridden as they are too small and most children small enough to ride one would not be capable of training the horse to carry and saddle and rider. Miniature horses are commonly taught to drive and could pull your children in a cart after being properly trained. As mini's are becoming increasingly popular, there are more trainers who are readily available to work with them if you feel unqualified to correctly teach the horse everything it needs to know in order to do it's job.

Actually, not even kids should ride most miniatures. Very small kids can ride the larger minis, but usually a kid strong enough to handle the reins is too big for the mini. Adults should NEVER ride a miniature. That is cruelty! But I've seen some cruel people do it.
My friend has minis she allows children to be led on her minis. They are handled from birth so they are gentle, and it's hard for them to buck when being led. Work with the minis and ponies to get them used to a saddle, then weight like a bag of feed on their backs. An adult is too heavy and could harm their young bodies.

No, if the adult is over 100 lb. The best way if you cannot find a 60 or so lb. person, is to saddle them up and ground drive them with some increasing bags for weight so they get used to that part. Then lead them with their halter and reins guided from behind. It is very dangerous for a little one to try to ride a green or partially broke pony or miniature horse. You are better off to get a bit larger horse that an adult can break and make safe. An inexperienced rider can ruin any training very quickly until they know how to control a horse or pony.

If you have an actual miniature horse, they are not to be ridden, their backs are not strong enough. If you have Shetland ponies or Welsh type, then a light adult can ride for training.

No definitely not! Put weight on his back, like a sack or something. Minis are NOT the best horses for little kids to ride. they may be little but they have a BIG attitude.

I don't think it would be wise! You should TRAIN him/her for kids. It also depends on how big they are and how small the adult is.

Yes. They could REFUSE ALL THE TIME if you ride them and then you want kids to ride them.

No. If you do that the poor animal will refuse to have even kids ride them.

Better yet, ask a trainer, and you need patience and love to achieve this or you will hopelessly ruin the poor animal.

No and no. It would be very damaging to their back, there's a ratio to keep in mind, can't find it but remember an adult is far too large and heavy!
