If she didn't leave a will you can't get any money. Without a will you are not entitled to any money.

It always saddens me, when after a loved one has passed away (whether it be days, months or years) people are so concerned with the money they may have left behind.

I understand that your grandmother took care of you, and that was a very wonderful thing for her to do. I really hope that the two of you had a very loving and caring relationship.

I'm not sure of your financial position, nor do I know of any reason you "need" the money (since you didn't say.. ).

I will say this though, since your grandmother did not leave a Will, designating who the money goes to.. I don't see why you automatically assume that it goes to you. So, you may want to back off a little.. and not try to claim something that may not even be yours to begin with.

Don't get me wrong.. I'm not saying that you're being all "money hungry" or anything. I really don't mean it that way. It just bothers me a lot when people get all concerned about money after a loved one passes away.. If she left it to you, then fine.. but since there is no Will to say who gets what.. then you shouldn't assume that it goes to you, just because she raised you.

Are you an adult? Did you have anything to do with taking care of her in her final days?? I'm asking this, because if you were on paper somewhere as her caretaker, then I would assume that you should be able to find out what she has/had as far as accounts and things..

You probably should seek legal advice with the whole situation. I've never been in your position, so I can't speak from personal expierence or anything like that. Just call a lawyer and see if they can help you out some.

I really don't think that you can get anything at all, without it being left in writting.. I may be wrong though.

Just because she was taking care of you, doesn't mean that you are entitled to anything if she didn't have a will. Mre than likely, if it was a sizeable amount, the governement has either frozen her assests OR they have been givin to the next of kin. Besides, any money that you would be entitled to, would be subject to inheritance tax, which is a certain percentage of the sum, I believe.

Your best bet would be to contact your grandmother's next of kin or any other living relatives and find out what happened to the money, but you certainly aren't entitled to any of it if there wasn't a will. I doubt you'll see one cent of that money, especially since you said it was a few years ago.

The closest living relative is entitled. Consult a lawyer.

The executor of the estate would have dealt with that. If she died intestate, things would have gone to her husband or children.

I am afraid you are out of luck. With no will, or power of attornery, you can't.
