I didn't have that problem during my first trimester (thank you hormones that made me throw up all day). But now I'm ravenous! I actually wake up in the middle of the night from hunger! I never feel full and have to consciously remind myself to stop eating. I know they tell you you only need an extra 300 calories and that you shoudlnt' gain more than 15-30 pounds during pregnancy...blah, blah, blah. I figure as long as I stay healthy (watch out for preeclampsia/gestational diabetes) I'll worry about the weight loss after the kid comes.

I just found out that I was six weeks as well. I have been reading the same thing but I am letting my body tell me what's up. If I am hungry I eat, everyone's pregnancy is different. If I don't eat I get nausea, so just eat. I try to do six small meals. So that I can won't gain that much. My husband keeps telling me that we are having twins that's why my stomach is bigger that a normal six person and I am more hungrier. I am also having cravings. I wanted Taco Bell Zesty nachos a couple of nights ago. I wanted cereal this morning (I haven't eaten cereal in years) and I wanted hot dogs right before I came to work. And they say that you only get cravings in your 2nd and 3rd trimester. Not always true.

I am in my second tri and I am always hungry. Always. I was not in my first though. A few things to remember! The baby does not eat your food!!!! You are not eating for two. The baby eats your nutrients from food. Big diff! You need an extra 300 cals a day to help with the exhaustion and hunger. You should gain 25-30 lbs if you gain less then that your baby will not be healthy since fluid alone is 12-15lbs. Just eat 5-6 small meals through out the day. Eat nutritious food! Remember if you eat like crap then your baby receives crap. The more fruits and veggies you put in your body the more vitamins and minerals your baby gets. Also exercise!!!!!!! I cant stress that enough! It helps you ward off unwanted eating habits and helps with energy which in turn helps you with food decisions! Its fun to think "I'm pg, I am going to eat whatever, whenever. But you wont be thinking that 6 months after the baby is born and you have added 25+ lbs of fat to your frame!! BE smart and Be healthy. Mind over matter!! Good choices!!

Before I was pregnant I just had breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but when I was 6 or 7 weeks pregnant I had to add 3 snacks everyday in order to keep me satisfied! Just make sure your eating healthy to avoid a large weight gain.

Even in the middle of the night...and I used to crave vegetables and good-for-you food...now its anything chocolate or junky! ooops :) Good luck to you and congrats!

You should know that you only need 300-400 extra calories a day when you are pregnant. Next time you see your doctor, ask him and he will tell you the same thing. That's why so many women balloon out and have a hard time losing weight after a pregnancy. They use being pregnant as an excuse to totally pig out. Please don't do that, for yourself and your husbands sake. Also make sure you take a prenatal vitamin, that is important.

No, but I knew a girl who did have that problem. She gained over 100 lbs while pregnant. WELL...after the baby came nobody could tell that she wasn't pregnant anymore. Be careful.
