The Art Institute of Chicago is amazing - home to an Impressionist collection that is world-renowned. I'd also suggest the Museum of Science and Industry. A walk on the Magnificent Mile is always fun, if for no other reason than to window shop. If you're looking for a more neighborhood-y experience, I'd check out Bucktown/Wicker Park (blue line el, Damon stop) - just get off the el and start to wander. Oh, and you must have Chicago Pizza - Pizzeria Uno's is great, so is Lou Mal's, and many also like Giordano's. I'm most proud of the fact that it's the third largest city in the US, but still home to witty, funny, interesting and down-to-earth people who are for the most part genuinely nice.

Hmmmm....Detroit. What stands out in Detroit? I'll get back to you on that one.....when something actually appears that is memorable in a positive way.

Oh yeah...you can visit the Ford River Rouge plant and see the grass growing on the roof. That's kind of cool. The plant tour is fun and it's near Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. That might be an expensive day...and it's not Detroit itself...but it's as close to fun as you'll get.

In Wichita, KS you have to see the Keeper of the Plains

He is the symbol of your city, standing at the point where the little and big Arkansas rivers merge.
