Hi, I live in Ewing, NJ. It's probably the biggest Democrat stronghold in America. We have some of the highest taxes anywhere, although they pay the newspapers to print stories that taxes are being lowered. The Dems here have failed to pass a budget the past year, so no one knows where the money's going. They raised sewer taxes, the sewer company told them they are behind on payment. We have a senior citizens center that is half-filled. They decided to buy another one, right next to the airport no less. There are tons of shady land deals going on with a company named American Properties that is getting no-bid cheap land contracts. The mayor bussed people from the local college, that don't live here, to vote for him in the election. The local police have been told to harass Republicans. Is this the kind of America liberals want? I only have 1,000 characters to work with, but I could go on.... does anyone live in a Republican stronghold area that's this bad?

I would never be so foolish to say that only Democrats were corrupt, but I think they are far worse then Republicans

When either party has a monopoly on power for an extended period of time, they tend to become more and more corrupt. It really has nothing to do with whether it's repubilcan or democrats. The Republicans controlled Nassau county on Long Island for years and a lot of the same things went on as you are describing.

Whe republicans controlled all three branches of goverment we had the unprecidented corruption with Jack Abramoff and contractors in Iraq and after Katrina. The White House procurement offer was arrested. Not to mention what they did in Texas.

The cops in NYC were told to spy on and harass democrats at the last Republican Convention . Republican operatives harassed democrats at the polls in the last two presidnetial elections.

It's the dark side of democracy -- to think that either party can claim the moral high ground is a mistake.

It would be unfair to both parties to say one party would be worse then the other. I should add, though, that under President Clinton, the entire government was controlled by the Democratic Party, and things weren't as bad as they are now. I feel that a balance of power should be struck, but not along party lines. How a candidate views the issues is what is really important. Many politicians go against their own party.

Ideally, there should be no one party that holds power over the entire government. What we have right now is pretty decent...insofar as to what party controls what. That leaves room for debate, and that is where real solutions are produced.
Yeah, I live in a rep stronghold, and guess what? it sucks. That said, I don't want all dems in power either.

Corzine lied to get elected.

Corzine shut down the government just because he could not get his tax hike passed.

Democrats care about the poor??? Corzine basically raised sales taxes to help release property taxes and you know what?? most Poor people can not afford property in NJ!!!

If you think Democrats are the only corrupt people in politics, I'd advise you to reach up with two hands, and get a rather strong grip on reality.

Main reason why we have two parties and three branches of government so no one party or one branch runs it all.
