Detroit's the only thing stopping them from getting him but they have Jeff Backus and George Foster so why do they need him?

They have a very realistic shot at Joe Thomas, because the teams picking ahead of the Cardinals are not really in need of an offensive tackle, or there's a greater need at another position (the Raiders at QB). He's an upgrade over everyone on the o-line that the Cardinals have. They have an explosive offense skill position-wise, they just need blockers to open up holes for the Edge and blockers to give Leinhart time to throw to Boldin and Fitzgerald. If they can add a pass catching tight end via draft/free agency, they could be even more dangerous offensively. They need to do whatever is possible to acquire the services of OT Joe Thomas.

The Lions really like Thomas, and the rumor mill around here (Detroit) is saying that Tampa wants to trade up to get their paws on Calvin Johnson. That gives Detroit the #4 pick where they'll get Thomas one slot before Arizona would have a chance to.

That being said, Matt Millen is a complete moron so you never know exactly what's going to happen on draft day... I nearly crapped myself (in a bad way; not out of joy) when they picked Mike Williams in the first round.

I think they will get him if they make a move, and it depends more upon what Cleveland wants to do.

I think Detroit is going to either 1) be stupid and take yet another WR in Calvin Johnson, or 2) take Brady Quinn and groom him for a year behind Kitna. A Quinn move could really upset the applecart.

I think the Cards are going to have to move up if they want Thomas, or they could trade way down and grab Joe Staley. This might net them another hog for the line.

I think their chances are very good. Oakland and Detroit need to address quarterback issues. Cleveland shouldn't pass up the chance to take a quality back like Adrian Peterson. Tampa Bay is giving serious thought to Calvin Johnson. The Cards need Thomas to protect young Mr. Leinart...hope they get him...
