I'm sending an email to see when I will find out if I'm going to be called back for a second interview. How should I write it? Should I thank them for selecting me for an interview first?

Thanks.

My interview was about 2 weeks ago. I wanted to send them a thank-you but it completely slipped my mind. Is it too late to send one now? Should it be a card or is an email ok? (Also, I interviewed with the CEO. Should I email him or just the person who contacted me about the interview?)

Hi, I'm in HR and you shouldn't ask at all. What you should do is thank them for the interview and tell them you enjoyed the discussion. You should let them know you are very interested in the job and why. Then let it be. If they want to call you back, they will and you can't solicit a second interview. Next time you have a first interview, remember to ask what their process will be like and what the time-line will be for interviews, second rounds etc? That way, you'll know what you can expect and how long a wait it might be. Now, however, all you can do is send the Thank You and hold on. No recruiter likes an aggressive candidate. Good Luck.

don't write it at all. if they were thinking of asking you back for a 2nd interview they will. by sending an e-mail or letter you will most likly be annoying them. my 2nd job is in a video store and when someone fills out an application then calls back a week later and asks the manager when he is going to call them, he hangs up and tells us that he will never hire that person now because they don't even work here yet and already they are annoying him

Here's the phrase -

What is the next step in the interview process and when will that occur?

You only want to ensure that the process is moving forward. Let them tell you what it is.
