Long distance relationships can work as long as BOTH people are willing to do the work. My boyfriend and I survived a long distance relationship and he was about 20 hours away! We were living like that for about a year. He then moved here after he graduated college. That was almost a year ago and were doing great! He came to visit me several times while we were still long distance. We talked on the phone every night. We made that promise and we stuck to it. Thats really important. If you say you will be home to talk at a certain time, then make sure your there. We would stay on the phone for hours. Sometimes we even talked online if either one of us had a paper to write. Then usually end up on the phone later when we were done.
You have to be completely honest with the other person and willing to go through the ups and the downs. People will tell you it wont work, but don't listen to them. It's only you two, no-one else matters.
I think its great that you each have something of the others. It's a good way to stay close. My boyfriend and I did that too. I had one of his T-shirts and I would sleep in it sometimes. Some people might think its "corny" but it doesn't matter, it's cute. Sometimes we would also watch the same show on tv or watch the same movie while on the phone. You can't do it in person, so it's the next best thing. Think of things like that to do to keep things fresh and close. Keep pictures of each other, and pictures of the two of you together.
I really wish you guys tons of luck! I hope things work out for you!!

Depends on the age of the person. If they can travel then it's possible a long distance relationship can work. As long as the two have a plan. There has to be a commitment to be together. There has to be a plan on who moves where down the line. There's all the money spent in travel.
Usually, they don't. It's just to easy to get involved with someone who is in the same area. Maybe it's because one person is missing the other and there's someone there to give sympathy and raise your spirits and all of a sudden there's a relationship. Maybe one person just wants to feel another person next to them. A squishy pillow is no substitute for a real person.
Sorry, there's probably heart ache headed your way. Hope not.

As long as you are happy keep going with it. When it doesn't seem to make sense anymore. Get out of it.

I'm all for it- as long as there is a good relationship between both parties, good oral communication, lots of love and trust.
