I had my period and it was abnoramlly light and short. I had a major trama and lost some blood from the surgery and such. But is it possible that I am pregnant? Oh - also - when I had my surgery I told the doctor that I wasn't pregnant because I didn't think I was. Do they test to make sure before preforming a surgery?

My surgery was a humerous fracture and i have a 9 inch incision on the back of my arm from it.

Better question - what are the chances of being pregnant being the case?

Although it is uncommon, I've heard that it is possible to have a period while pregnant. I also read that some people think they are having a period while pregnant, but it is actually spotting (light bleeding) which is not really a period but actually a symptom of the pregnancy. This kind of sounds like what you are describing, being abnormally light.

As far as the surgery, I would think that it depends on the kind of surgery it is, but I don't know for sure.

You should get a pregnancy test done by a doctor to be sure. Normally I would suggest a home test, but if you feel there might be a problem because of the surgery, you need to find out for sure as soon as possible, and a blood test from a doc is the most accurate. Then, if you find out that you are pregnant, you should talk to the doctors who performed your surgery to see if any damage might have been done, or just ask your own doctor.

New stuff after you added more details:

I think I understand your question better now. Are you asking: Is your abnormal period due to the surgery or due to you being pregnant?

If so, then it could be either. Your surgery caused you blood loss, like you said, so I could totally see your period not being as heavy. Also, stress could cause your period to be abnormal, including a whole lot of other factors like what you're eating or your physical activity.

But like I said before, some people mistake pregnancy spotting for a period, so it could still be due to a pregnancy. The only way to know for sure is to get tested.

Yes, it's possible. Especially if it was very light and shorter than the norm. Your best bet is to see your doctor to find out for sure.
