I am a receptionist at a company. The people that work in production cannot have phone calls unless it is an emergency. I can take messages and deliver them to a message box for the employees. Well, an employees daughter called and wanted to speak with her mother. I asked if I could take a message and she said no and hung up. She called again later and asked if she could speak to her mother and I asked if it was an emergency. She said "This is her daughter." I asked if I could take a message and if this was an emergency and she hung up. How rude!!! This daughter was probably in her teens or preteens. She was very rude. I know that if my child called my place of business and was rude to an employee I would be upset. What about you?

I didn't decide if it was an emergency or not. The person who calls is the one who decides. I just ask if it's an emergency. I don't need to know why they call. I just need to know if it is so then I can call the person over the intercom.

Yeah that's really rude. Obviously her parents have not taught her about manners and so on. Little brat. Her mother should be reminded of the company policy.

she is stupid. she probably wanted to talk to her mother about something stupid. don't sweat it. some people raise there children with no manners. just forget about it. but the next time she calls tell her off and don't be afraid to give it to her rough. she'll live and learn because of you. i have been helping raise kids for a while. i wouldn't have to worry about that. i feel for you 'cause i have had this guy call my house and say a lot of very rude to me.

You should have put her through. What one person would consider an emergency, another would not. And it is not up to you to decide.
