My boss is a moody woman who thinks she can say and do whatever she wants. She is not always polite when she talks to the staff who respect her because of her temper and her position. Today I answered back! She didn't appreciate it. In fact it was as if she wanted me to and put me down.

How do you react in front of such difficult people?

You could put her on a mailing list for information about Zoloft. Smile and be polite at all times.

You have to decide if you want to quit or try to modify the problem. Many times changing jobs gives you more respect in the new company you work at and sometimes at a higher wage.

To modify this behaviour is a long process. First try to look at the good in that person. Then tell them honest praises, 'I really like that skirt you have on'. After you do this you might also encourage her good traits. I really like how you know how to take control of that situation when..." If her ego is based on putting others down she may not be able to continue this behaviour with you but starting to look at you as a person not a tool.

You cannot easily put others down if they feel you empathize with them. The empathy may first be rather shallow but still do it ( I love your shoes, hair etc). The boss may be feeling overwhelmed with her responsibilities and any encouragements may help her to feel you are a part of her team and not out to sabotage her.

Perhaps this encouragement is all she needs to start to feel part of the group rather than apart from the group she works with. If this doesn't work after a month perhaps it's time to look for a different job.

Keep your perspective! You are an employee-not an employer! Your employed status is at the whim of your employer! Your employer has graced you with employment-thats the basis for you being compensated with monetary befitment. She is not God but, very close to so! You should appreciate the basic effort and repose to retain you.Double your wages to respect what she is liable to report and pay for her hiring you. Get your head out of your ***! You've no idea of reality! Insults from emploee's are rarelly taken serious unless they are obvious afronts to law!You are soo wrong to confront on a poor choice of behavior! Life will move to greener pastures! Carefull to pick your fight!

Tough luck. But she's the one above you and there's really not too much you can do.Except maybe yell at her like crazy then quit..but im guessing that's not the best option :s

so,i think you should just avoid her as much as possible.Ignore what she says that isnt work related.Get along with everyone else, and she'll find out how nasty she's being sooner or later.
Good luck!

I've experienced that myself, and unfortunately I have a habit of just breaking down and crying. The best advice I can give is to find someone else you can talk calmly to about your situation, and if you can you should think about getting another job. Just because someone has the title of "boss" or "manager" doesn't mean they can treat their employees with disrespect as people.
