My boss is a moody woman who thinks she can say and do whatever she wants. She is not always polite when she talks to the staff who respect her because of her temper and her position. Today I answered back! She didn't appreciate it. In fact it was as if she wanted me to and put me down.

How do you react in front of such difficult people?

I've been the doormat for most of my life. I've recently found that if you always speak with the best intentions, people tend to respond accordingly, and you can (carefully) speak up once they understand your intentions are pure. It could take months for them to trust your opinion, so be kind and be patient.

Instead of trying to fight it you need to take the opposite approach. Just yes her to death. It's actually kind of amusing. Just reassure her of everything, say yes to what she says, agree with her, etc. Once you do that for a while, discreetly (!), she will know that she can depend on you and not bother you so much. She is obvioussly a miserable person..don't let her drag you down with her. Ignore the fact that she's moody and always have a smile, keep up with your work, and you will be fine. My boss is moody too =)

Well, I would start by really observing her and her f***ed up personality. So, Figure our when would be the best time to shut up, or ask her for something, or a good time to suggest something. Basically I would take in the vibe of the mood and act acordingly.

If you have too much invested in the job I would stay and try to work my way up. If not I would weigh the pros and cons out and see what extent you would go to fix the situation.

You simply inform her you would like to be treated the same way you treat her. If she continues to disrespect you infront of people, give it right back to her. I had a boss like that and when I showed her how she treated everyone else, she stopped. She felt bad that the whole office thought she was a b@tch. Perhaps your boss might need to know this as well. Thank you and good luck.

Never mind that!

What I really want to know is what your moody boss said to you and what you said in reply.

Did she threaten to fire you?

I cannot stand people in charge who think they're better than everyone else just because they were lucky enough to be promoted to a managerial position when some of them are as thick as two short planks!!!

Remember: they have a boss above them too!!!

Good luck to you!
