ok first off, J needs to go get a life. J= noob.
Tennis is great. Take my advice. I have tried almost every sport out there and the only one i stuck to was tennis. The reason is because its a one-on-one game. There are no stupid idiots like in PE who are so uncoordinated that they hit themselves instead of the object of the game. Tennis is a purely you game and you have to rely on yourself. you never have a team of idiots, so you end up having to blame yourself for your loss, which i believe builds character.
Unlike other sports, in tennis if you want to try something new during play and you mess up, it doesnt matter because no one is going to stop you from trying it again. (unlike in volleyball you try to spike once, miss, and never be allowed to spike again)
Tennis is also a great workout and STUPID J obviously doesnt know that crosscountry and track are things that help you condition for tennis.
If your a team person then might still want to try tennis, only try doubles. Also in tennis there is no trash talk or violence/ disrespect (like basketball where people do this, no offense to the sport, just what the people made it into). Tennis is a very elegant and sophisticated sport. at least when you playing out a point the crowd doesnt start screaming and eating there greasy food.
so i suggest first try it out and GET A PRIVATE COACH if you want to get good and find out what tennis really is.

true... just because you sucked J., doesn't mean that its a waste of time... why dont you just mug people for a living if you like cross country so much? jeez... atleast tennis is mentally stimulating as well as physically... really... go jog off a cliff or something with ur negative outlook on life...
TENNIS is awesome and it's so fun to play. Even if you're not playing by the rules and playing, dare i say it, super tennis, its something you can do with your friends and its great exercise...
I've learned so much from tennis... im so mentally tough in pressure situations.... i was playing volleyball during the summer and we were in the championships, and it was my serve and we were down match point and i hit it as hard as i could and i didnt mess up like many people would have thought. i never second guess myself because, through tennis and learning to deal with pressure and staying calm and just being so mentally positive, you gain these types of abilities... its so much fun... go out and get playin already!

It's a really exciting game dat requires both mental n physical fitness. honestly i started watching tennis in 2005 (da Aus Open - all andy roddick matches. I was flipping thru da channels wen i saw dis really hot guy playing tennis. Andy is da hottest sportsmen alive!!!) Plus i like 2 watch Tommy Haas, Maria Sharapova n Serena Williams. Besides tennis players r very fashion conscious, they always look gr8. I would luv 2 see roddick in da buff. Wouldn't mind if roddick n Sharapova get hitched they r da most good looking players on da planet.................................ever. I just luv da game it comes naturally. It's da only sport i like. Its an individual game n u hav da liberty 2 play da way u want 2 without worrying about da others. Its so much fun. I like players who show emotions during matches

The person above me obviously didn't enjoy playing tennis, lol. I like it because it's a good workout and I always have this "craving" to play. It would be good for you to at least take lessons before you judge it.

Well, I do not really have any storys, but it was because it is an independent sport (except in doubles). It's all you out there, and it is a fun and popular way to get active and strong.

i love tennis, it is the best. i love the focus that is placed on you and possibly only one other person on your team. the whole accountability for your wins and losses. plus it is relativly low impact as opposed to track or cross country and is very healthy. plus it is fun to watch how you delvelop your skills

i used to play tennis for 3 yrs. straight at my old highschool. i was 2nd place in my tournaments, and looking back, i regret doing it the whole time. it was a waste of time, it was not fun, especially bc it is the same deal every single time i played, and it was not worth it. if you would take my advice, stick with something more useful for your life, like track or cross country.. those are greaaaattt.
