My boss is a moody woman who thinks she can say and do whatever she wants. She is not always polite when she talks to the staff who respect her because of her temper and her position. Today I answered back! She didn't appreciate it. In fact it was as if she wanted me to and put me down.

How do you react in front of such difficult people?

don't insult her!
look she will be even mor vexed and angered if u do as she says, but be a little too nice smile a little too much and make sure you have that smarty-arsey llok in your eyes, my mums boss was like this and me and my sister kept encouraging her!

guess where she is now!---she was premoted a year after and now is one of the managing director and her horrid old boss is still left behind!

don't worry this hard smarty **** task will get hard at times but remember you are doin the jobs for YOU not HER and it won't always be easy!

when times do get hard though make sure there is somebody you can call...a friend or relative who knows your plan and they will give you all the help and encouragement you need!

good luck and remember...NEVER quit!-stay on and she will be the one quitting

The boss may be an idiot, but she's still the boss. You have to swallow it and keep going.
If itis REALLY getting to you, start looking.
Go to a book store, look in the business section andi nvest $ 25.00 on a book on resumes.

Stert looking, but above all don't tip your hand. Don't give you an excuse to fire you or mess with you until you've had it and quit.

I've worked with my share of jerks. it isn't fun and the thought of changing jobs may the last thing you want to do. If, for example, you're 25 and have been there only 2 years, or are you 50 and have been there18 years?

Another thought. Is there "mobility" in your co, that she might not be your boss forever?

I feel for you,. People like this destroy morale, they're worse than poison,

Ive been in a similar situation recently! After months of putting up with a very moody boss and uncomfortable working conditions i finally flipped and argued back! I was dreading going into work the next day ...so much so that I couldnt sleep, but the next day she was so pleasant it was as if she was a different person! i think by standing up to her i gained her respect and now we get along fine!

The only thing that can really be done in this situation is to continue to perform your job to the best of your abilities and not to engage the boss in any sort of discussion. Is she one of your best friends? Of course not! Then not associating with her shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Hopefully your job does not involve having to communicate too much with this woman. Remain professional and politely distant.

i am always polite but honest and people should not use their positions as a way of bullying other people who are not as high up the ladder as themselves, always be true to your self and they cant sack you for having an opinion and never be treated like that by anyone.....even a boss, you will achieve so much, you took the first steps already, they didnt like it because the truth hurts, good luck you will go far.

I really struggle with this sort of situation. I believe you can't win with this sort of person, they want a reaction, and it's best not to give one.
The only time I've succeeded stopping someone like this being rude to me, was to lose my temper and tell them I wasn't going to put up with it anymore. They were really nice to me after that, but of course you risk losing you job if it goes the wrong way.
I've had problems everywhere I've worked, so I'm now self-employed, and loving it!

She sounds like a bully, stand up to her and I bet she will come to respect you. If not move to another dept, you don't need to put up with that in the workplace. I had a boss like that and I didn't take her cr*p, she found me a threat and treated me terribly, I left the company and in fact found a better, job with a higher salary and a brilliant boss who treats me with respect and supports me. x

If you are doing your job correctly then I would treat her with the contempt that she deserves. If you are doing it incorrectly and she has a bad attitude in telling you so I would become very patronizing towards her and admit that you are not being so if she ask. Good Luck

Depends on the person, if they're bullying, you stand up to them and they won't bully you.

If they're being defensive, you find out why and work your way around it.

If they lack people skills, you become their friend.

It all depends on her reasons.
